Bilkent University, through its Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and as an active member of the Information Multipliers System (IMS) Club, participated in a two-day “Proposal Writing in Horizon Europe” programme held under the “Technical Assistance for Türkiye in Horizon Europe Project”.
The programme was opened by TUBITAK National Coordinator of Horizon Europe Programme Çağrı Yıldırım and delivered by thematic expert Leonardo Piccinetti. It provided participants with a comprehensive overview of Horizon Europe calls, proposal structures, and evaluation criteria.
Strengthening Proposal Foundations
On the first day, the sessions focused on the core elements of successful proposals, emphasizing the three key pillars: Excellence, Impact, and Implementation. Participants enhanced their understanding of how to develop strong project objectives, robust methodologies, and effective dissemination and exploitation strategies.
The training also addressed the structuring of work packages, deliverables, and risk management processes.
Advancing Financial and Strategic Planning
The second day focused on the financial and strategic aspects of proposal development. Participants received practical guidance on Horizon Europe financial rules, including lump sum budgeting, personnel cost calculations, and partner budget allocation.
Sessions also addressed aligning budgets with project tasks and work packages, as well as key insights into proposal forms and evaluation processes.
In addition, the programme highlighted important cross-cutting priorities such as Gender Equality Plans and Open Science practices, reinforcing the broader impact dimension expected in Horizon Europe projects.
Through its active participation in the IMS Club, Bilkent University continues to strengthen its capacity in EU research and innovation programmes and enhance its contribution to the European Research Area by supporting the development of competitive, high-impact project proposals.
