The Distinguished Visiting Fellowships and Missions – Turkey programme is a component of the UK Newton Fund, which aims to develop science and innovation partnerships to promote the economic development and social welfare of developing countries.
The aim of the programme is to help Turkish universities to build capacity and promote collaborations by facilitating visits from distinguished engineering experts from the United Kingdom.
The Academy defines ‘engineering’ broadly and includes ICT and materials.
The scheme provides funding so that an engineering department at a Turkish university can host a Distinguished Visitor or group of Distinguished Visitors from a UK academic centre of excellence for a visit lasting up to one month. A Group is counted as four or more Visiting Fellows who must travel to Turkey at the same time.
This visit will ideally incorporate local travel to other universities in Turkey to disseminate knowledge and build linkages regionally and with the UK.
The support available is up to £6,000 for an individual visitor or up to £30,000 for a group mission.
