A signing ceremony for 14 new R&D projects, launched as of 2025 under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in collaboration with public institutions, universities, and defence industry companies, was held on January 13, 2026. The ceremony stood out as a significant development in terms of expanding high-quality R&D activities in the defence sector and strengthening multi-stakeholder cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Kürşat Aydoğan, Rector of Bilkent University and Chair of the Board of Directors of Bilkent UNAM, attended the signing ceremony for the R&D projects to be carried out under the auspices of Bilkent University and the Bilkent National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM). During the ceremony, the strategic role of universities in the development of advanced technologies for the defence industry was emphasized.
Dr. Hamdi Dibeklioğlu and Dr. Emre Ozan Polat, who serve as principal investigators of the projects, were also present at the ceremony. The initiated R&D efforts aim to contribute to the development of critical technologies required by the defence industry, facilitate the transfer of academic knowledge to industry, and strengthen Türkiye’s technological infrastructure.
