Dr. Fulya Türker has been awarded funding under the ICGEB-CRP Early Career Return Grant 2025 for her research on neurodegenerative diseases. This prestigious grant, offered by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), supports early-career scientists returning to their home countries to establish independent research programs and pursue high-impact scientific projects. Türker’s project focuses on investigating the neuronal membrane proteasome (NMP), a protein degradation mechanism implicated in the onset and progression of Huntington’s disease. Toxic protein aggregation plays a critical role in this rare but fatal neurodegenerative disorder. The project aims to elucidate key molecular pathways involved in disease progression, paving the way for the development of novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
