Bilkent Students Helped Raise Intellectual Property Awareness Among Younger Generations

May 2, 2025 Written by ttoweb

In order to ensure that university students gain knowledge about industrial property rights and to encourage the dissemination of intellectual property (IP) awareness among youth, the first phase of the IP Pioneers Project has been completed. The project was developed in cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with contributions from the Industrial Property Advisory Units of 12 universities located in Ankara and the Turkish Ministry of National Education.

As part of the project, our Bilkent University Faculty of Law students, Ayça Akan and İlke Özdemir, first participated in training sessions on patents, utility models, trademarks, and designs held by TÜRKPATENT experts through the IP Academy. They then conveyed what they had learned to students at Türk Telekom Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu High School ve Batıkent Kız Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu High School through the presentations they prepared.

The achievements of our university students were recognized with certificates of appreciation presented by Turkish Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Kasım Gönüllü, and President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Prof. Dr. Zeki Durak, during the World Intellectual Property Day event held on April 25, organized by TÜRKPATENT.

We congratulate our IP Pioneers for representing our university with great success in this project and for contributing to the spread of intellectual and industrial property awareness among younger generations. We hope that efforts in this field will continue to grow in the coming years.
