European Research Council Awarded Proof of Concept Grant to Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Selim Hanay

Bilkent University Faculty of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department and Bilkent UNAM Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Selim Hanay has received a European Research Council Proof of Concept Grant.

The ERC Proof of Concept funding is made available only to those who already have an ERC award to establish proof of concept of an idea generated in the course of their ERC-funded projects. Between 2018-2023, Dr. Hanay was awarded an ERC StG grant named “Resonant Electromagnetic Microscopy: Imaging Cells Electronically”. In this project, Hanay research group worked on to develop a portable, low cost and fast electronic instrument for early detection of diseases.

In his new ERC Grant titled “Rapid Microplastic Analysis by Microparticle Radars,” Hanay research group will apply their technology for screening water resources for microplastic contamination.
