First PhD Graduate of the NSC Program

Zahide Pamir successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “The effect of context-dependent lightness on contrast detection and identification, and its neural correlates” under the supervision of Prof. Huseyin Boyaci.  She has also become the first PhD graduate of the Neuroscience Program at Bilkent University. She is going to continue her academic career as a postdoctoral research fellow in Schepens Eye Research Institute of Harvard Medical School under the supervision of Prof. Eli Peli where she will work on the field of low vision rehabilitation and be involved in studies aiming to improve “visual performance” of visually impaired individuals with sensory substitution devices and visual prosthesis.
