A Faculty Position at the Assistant Professor level (or higher) in the Chemistry Department of Bilkent University is available, starting from September 2018. The Department seeks candidates for a permanent (or possibly visiting) position with a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Related Fields.
Duties of the faculty include teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, establishing a globally-competitive research program at Bilkent, supervision of student research at all (undergraduate, M.S. and Ph.D.) levels, organization of local and international scientific activities and contribution to student recruitment efforts. Current research in the Department includes both experimental and theoretical studies on surface science and spectroscopy, real and model catalysts, nano-crystals, nano- and meso-porous materials for solar energy and water-splitting applications, electrochemistry, fuel cells, battery development, design and syntheses of novel organic materials, mechano-chemistry, supra-molecular/polymer chemistry, biological/chemical sensors, photodynamic therapy, molecular energy transfer, and quantum chemical calculations of photochemical processes.
Successful candidate will be expected to build a vigorous research program and attract external research funding. Candidate is also expected to have at least one post-doctoral research experience and demonstrate a strong publication record during her/his PhD studies as well as the postdoctoral work. Considerable instrumental resources are available at Bilkent that can strengthen candidate’s research program and support interdisciplinary and collaborative research efforts.
